Organic soaps

FOR a man who used to work in advertising, Chiang Jung Yuan is surprisingly low-key about his product, preferring to let its results speak for themselves.

Taiwanese Chiang is the creator of Yuan handmade soaps, which use natural, pesticide-free ingredients. The products are now available in Malaysia.

Chiang started making these soaps out of necessity three years ago. He had problem skin and needed to use a preservative-free product and when he could not find anything suitable, decided to make the soaps himself. From a home-based effort, the venture has now helped to revive the once-withering town of Chinshan, in Taipei county, where the soaps are made.

Most ingredients are chosen for their curative effects and therapeutic purposes. Patchouli, mugwort, mung bean, Cypress' bark, eucalyptus oil and lemons are some of the local herbs found in Yuan concoctions, giving the soaps a natural hint of colours and a faint aroma. The ingredients are all grown in Taiwan and have received world-recognised certification.

The soaps are available at several organic and health food stores in the Klang Valley and one outlet in Seremban. For more information, call Green Bamboo Organic V Mart at 03-7980 1319.

Choose Outfit

Black is always in and especially this season there is plenty to choose from. Pick one with a mix in textures and fabrics for a fresh, modern take. There are loads to choose from with plenty of sequins, crystals and beading that offer enough to dazzle.
