Inspiration for Women Entrepreneurs

A conference on women and entrepreneurship will be held on 12-13 August 2009 in Kuala Lumpur.

The Women Entrepreneurs Conference 2009 which is themed Risks and Rewards – Leading the Knowledge based Economy, aims to provide female entrepreneur leaders with ideas and inspiration to fuel the future of their businesses.

The conference aims to to ensure that female entrepreneurs are given the opportunity to discover the support channels available to overcome economic downturn and to position their businesses to excel when the economy recovers. It also seeks to help women obtain access to capital, improve  their business skills & strategies as well as leverage on technology to start up and grow their businesses.

Among the events lined up during the conference are informative talks and inspiring forums as well as Financial, Business and Technology Boot Camps.

Besides having the opportunity to network with successful professionals, participants will be able to interact with other innovative companies and communities to explore enterprise opportunities in addition to deepening their understanding of the creative strategic process of entrepreneurship.

Participants will also receive goodie bags and be able to participate in lucky draws during the event.

The two day event is organised by Gorgeous Geeks Malaysia, a Special Interest Group under the Association of Software Architect (www.iasahome.org).  The aim of the group is to provide network and support for women in the information, communication and technology industry as well as to inspire other women to join the profession.  The group also encourage all women to use technology as part of their lifestyles.

The Women's Entrepreneurs Conference is also supporting The Salaam Wanita (SW) project. It was launched in June 2002,and is a component of www.ehomemakers.net. Members comprise of the urban poor who live all over the Klang Valley and Ipoh. They include single mothers, homemakers, disabled women, patients with chronic illnesses, and women who are the primary care takers of dependents or those with chronic illnesses.
