Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this bloggerWhen I first saw Michael Jackson’s moves in Motown doing “Billie Jean” and the video on “Beat It” in the 80's", I was awed and mesmerized. We were just coming out of the disco era and moving into break dance; here comes Michael Jackson creating moves that were way ahead of our time. I could not comprehend what he was doing. It was like introducing i phone in the 80’, even before notebooks or handphones were invented.
Even today, watching his videos of “Thriller, “The Way You Make Me Feel”, etc are still incredibly amazing. In his memorial, it was mentioned that there can be only one Michael Jackson, and he was the greatest entertainer of our times.
Back in 80’s, everyone wanted to be a part of him. No one came close to the craze frenzy that Beatles experienced. Michael topped it all. Looking at his moves in “ Don’t stop till you get enough”, he certainly reinvented himself and came back in a mega way.
Passing of a legend
I remember in the 90’s after his extra smooth moves in “Smooth criminal”, the whole world waited in anticipation for his next video. In Australia, when I was studying there, the whole world received a simultaneous viewing of his new video, “Bad” and then “Black and White”. Everyone loved MJ. Once a rap artist tried to down play MJ in his music video. The world did not like it and the rap artist literally got the rap. MJ was everyone’s darling.
Over the years, we saw some sad unveiling of his lonely life, his make do world of fantasy and then came the accusations. I even heard his relationship with his siblings and immediate family were strained.
Why is it that in the death of someone, we forget all the bad things and remember only the good. Can’t we all do this, while they are still with us? Michael will never know what we did for him and how much we have shown our appreciation and love to him over these few days. I wished we only did this, while he was still alive.
We would like to hear your feedback, what Michael meant to you.
