Moving at the Speed of Technology
Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this blogger
As of February this year, USA TV transmission just went completely digital. Those who own analogue TV in USA will just see snowy fuzz. It’s amazing to note that since the invention of the teleivision, it has evolved so much in terms of technology and quality.I remember we used to comment on those who have lived through some of the amazing innovations in history such as the invention of the car, train, telephone, the light bulb etc. We alone have seen some of the most amazing innovations over the last 2 decades that many have not even experienced in the last millennium or so. Talk about computers, hand phone, I pod, Internet, we have it all.
I wonder what new things do we have in store for the future.

Whats that on your roof? It serves no purpose anymore
Sometimes I enjoy watching movies with the 1920’s to 1960’s setting when things were a lot slower and people had time to stop and talk to one another and have time for each other. Now it’s almost impossible to find time with anyone even though they all own a hand phone and are easily contactable.
Are we going into an age of impersonal existence? Is technology serving us or are we serving it instead?
Getting Out of Control
Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this blogger
One of the greatest gifts anyone can ever possess is the freedom of choice. Wars were fought over this and people have even gone to the extent of laying their lives for it. Why is freedom of choice, so important?Well, it represents our total identity as a human being. The freedom to decide our own destiny.
Some people love to control others basically because they want to keep them within the parameter of safety and protection, which they feel, is right for the person. Could be psychological or for physical safety.
Parents make the mistake of doing this even when their child is way past 21 years old. We always think the best for them. They even go to the extent of choosing their life partner for them.

A freedom to choose
One of the most despised characters in the bible is a queen called Jezebel. She literally controlled the King and brought the entire kingdom to ruin.
One of the greatest gifts God has given us is the freedom of choice.
Let us value that and not let anyone control you or your freedom to choose your destiny.
Bad Weather or whether it’s Bad

Of late we have been experiencing some very drastic weather changes in Malaysia. Sometimes in the extreme, such as very heavy rains and or extreme heat. I heard there were hailstones in one part of the country a couple of days ago. The last time I heard of hail stones was around 1990’s and 1970’s. Yesterday the ceiling in my music studio started leaking badly due to a thunderstorm and heavy winds. Some of the houses near my area were likewise affected.
We are undergoing some major climatic change
Well I guess its obvious our weather is changing due to global warming caused by us. Each household emits too much heat energy from use of electricity that turns to CO2 heat emission that causes the change in weather.
Can we reverse this or are we doomed to perish in the next few years from climatic disaster?
Will something like New Orleans disaster happen here? I was told we are at the 11the hour of weather catastrophe.
I know for sure from scientific research that the earth is capable of healing itself if we gave it a chance. So lets just give the earth a chance.
Earth Day
Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this blogger
Well in just a few more days we will be celebrating Earth Day. If you are not sure what or how you could be involved this Saturday from 8.30pm to 9.30pm lights out time, please visit www.earthhour.org/malaysia.Alhough I totally support this celebration, I think we need to do more than just a one day observation on saving our planet. This celebration will help us become aware of the fragile planet we are living in and if we don’t make drastic changes to our way of treating this planet, we may not have a home to leave behind for our children and children’s children.
Just a few months ago I have reminded my neighbors why they need not run their car engines for more than 15 seconds when starting it for the day. They still keep running it for more than 15 minutes and sometimes half an hour, being totally oblivious to the environmental damage they are causing.

Happy birthday earth! Its about time we recognized your existence
We could do some changes in our life that could make a huge contribution to the earth such as using recycled bags when shopping for groceries, reducing consumption of water, electricity, not throwing your rubbish out of your car windows when driving etc.
Lets make these changes and save our planet. It’s our home anyway.
Avoid like a Plague.
Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this blogger
I have heard cases where when a guy shows interest towards a particular woman without overtly overbearing, the girl in response if not interested , avoids him like a plague.I am quite surprised that some women of this modern era do things like that. I wonder why? All they need to do is communicate to the guy that they are not interested and maintaintain the friendship. Well, aren’t they both adults and shouldn’t a women handle the response if the feelings are not mutual with a little more maturity?

Are they ignoring you?
Someone once told me if a girl behaves that way its because she has deep rooted issues and unresolved problems such as past broken relationship. It could also be other psychological issues. I wonder if that’s the real reason or if they are just plain immatured.
Age Matter
Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this blogger
I might not know or fully comprehend what mid life crisis may be all about. Some have tried explaining and some say I will someday go through it. I don’t think I may, as I don’t suffer from an age crisis. I am just glad whatever age I am at, as I appreciate the experience and the good life God has given me thus far.At the same time, although my psychological make up may differ from most others, I don’t think its fair if I don’t appreciate the age crisis people go through. I remember someone I know doing hair surgery and buying a fancy sports car at mid 40’s to counter his mid life crisis.

Forever young
I wonder how women take their ageing process and biological make up. I remember bumping into a local pretty actress who still looked lovely at her early 30’s, yet she commented with sadness that she is already old. Old at 30?
I don’t really think people come to the conclusion they are old, unless someone keeps reminding them. I remember in my University days when I was 24 years old, my younger classmates who were in their 20’s, referred to me as being old.
I think age issue is a sensitive thing and we must not run people down by claiming they are old before they hit 70. Even when they are in their 70's, why remind them? It's like saying they are incapable of anything anymore and its better that they just find a hole to bury themselves in. ( Many of the US presidents were in their 70’s when they took office)
It’s very cruel and unintelligent to bring up someone’s age as a subject of ridicule. Don't forget, one day you will be that very age, which you ridiculed someone else before.
Speaking to Your Audience

Yesterday I was invited as one of the speakers to a group of 200+ kids in a secondary school. I had earlier spent much of my time preparing the materials instead of finding out about my audience. When I got there I just realized they were in their form 3 and 4 which makes them about 14 to 15 years old. I had just prepared a speech for how to make it out there in the corporate world. Shucks! I had to chuck my notes away and decided to tell them how they are all a success even before they start out in the world. That they are all created in God’s image and I went on to tell them a little about working life, career, money etc.
Some of the kids looked a little blank, probably it was over their heads. I guess a few caught what I said. My parting notes were, they might probably use most of what I have shared with them today, a few years from now.

Better size up your audience first
I was invited later to a meal with the other team by the school. It kind of brought back nostalgic feelings being in a secondary school.
I only wish I had shared with them what I would have wanted to hear when I was in school years ago.
Getting Out of Negativity.
Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this blogger
On a daily basis we are normally faced with a number of negative circumstances, people or situations. Sometimes the traffic jam can get to you, a difficult colleague or boss, friends, work etc. It’s within one’s attitude to look beyond the situation and have a positive attitude no matter what the circumstances are.
"Put on your dancing shoes, and dance away your blues...."
Although temporary or small offences and negativity can be overcome, how does one deal with a prolonged depression as a result of rejection, broken relationship or loneliness? If we don’t deal with it immediately, we are going to spend most of our days in depression and pain. It can even take years. Sometimes have adverse effect on your health.
Although it is not easy to come out of it, you certainly can if you decide and make a conscious effort to overcome it. It will do you a whole lot of good to be on the positive side of life. There are seasons one goes through in life. Make each season a joyful one in spite of the circumstances.
The Warrior and the Princess

Recently the Young Adults in my church organized a gathering of the gender sexes to have an evening of growing in the understanding and celebration of the differences between both sexes. The ambiance was an interesting set up with 5 women to a table of three men. As the ratio of women to men is normally higher in most places. It was a dimly lit setting with candlelight and drinks and cup cakes to go around. We were shown 3 movie clips depicting men in different roles. One of the movies was 300. Questions were opened to the floor for questions and games were one line statement where if you agree to the statement, you stand. The questions were such as, should men cook? Is Brad Pitt Sexy? (To which almost all women stood up) Do men have big Egos? Etc

There so many fishes in the water, which do you want?
The evening was chaired by my pastor and his wife who explained what is a real man and a real woman. Which was interesting compared to a lot of views and opinions of many. They instilled some real values in looking for a partner. For the men, the list goes as follows;
1) Strength-Character/ leadership/not afraid of rejection
2) Passion
3) Vulnerability-Being honest with ones weakness
4) Extra Ordinary Depth-certain innate qualities like honesty, integrity, and compassion for the poor or underprivileged
5) Spirituality
The issue of the metro sexual man came up. Most women preferred the metro sexual man. (The role model would be personalities like Brad Pitt, George Clooney etc).
And the Oscar Goes to……
Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this blogger
The most talked about movie today is the one that won 8 Oscars including best Picture.“ Slum dog Millionaire” hasn’t even hit our shores yet. One wonders why?Anyway back to the movie, two of the youngest starts were from the slums and also for some of the actors and actresses of this movie, this is their first biggest break.
The entire life story unfolds from this example that nothing is impossible for anyone who aims for the highest. It’s the nature of the human spirit to fight in spite of the odds and obstacles against them.

Creativity comes from the creator
Someone once said, “ When I see someone in his creativity, doing his creative stuff, be it decorating a home, cooking a sumptuous meal, producing a movie, acting etc. It is displaying the image of God.
Lets not forget our origin, that we came from a divine infinite awesome creator that makes us who we are. (Not from some monkey that hangs on a tree)
