“ Lights,….. Camera,…. Action……”
Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this blogger
“Take 110..,”well I am just exaggerating. There weren't that many takes, but it was taken several times though. I couldn’t remember the lines and was a little too stiff. My partner in the scene was experienced and she did a great job. I am glad she was patient with my mistakes.
The script was flexible as we were allowed to make improvements without loosing out the facts. We had to make it personal. The camera crew confessed that this was their longest quest. Well nevertheless they did a good job of handling it with skill, tactfulness and professionalism.

wasn't this scene though, but was a lot more spectacular
I had a great time doing it. It is a private shooting, so not most of you will get to see it. It will be screened soon, but don’t ask where.
It was really a fantastic experience. Never again will I take the role of an actor/ actress for granted. They are a very talented bunch of people. Boy do I envy them. But with experience, I think I will eventually do well.
What is Your Position?
Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this blogger
Most of us if given the opportunity, would love to be a rock star or a movie star. We love the limelight and all the glamour that goes with it. The fame, the money, endless parties, travel etc.
But the question is, are we comfortable in those positions. I learned that acting is a very serious and difficult role. What makes one actor better than the other is not how good looking they are, but how well they can play the role given to them. Even facial expression plays a big role. For example the serious look of Samuel J Jackson, the innocent and bubbly smile of Rees Witherspoon, the menacing and sarcastic look of Jack Nicholson or the humorous and serious look of Will Smith.

A whole team of people on the background, make this flight program a success
That is only a part. The others would involve memorizing and improvising the script and presenting the role as best as they can. I have made comparisons with average actors and professional ones. There is a huge difference between them. I guess it’s in the feel.
I have a screen test tonight and will be on the silver screen soon. I am not sure how it will go, but one thing for sure is I am comfortable about it.
Are you comfortable of being in the lime light? If you aren’t, understand that its not your call, you were designed to do something different. I have noticed that a whole team of people who work on the background do most of the work.
It was once said it takes a few hundred people to make the space flight a success. Only 3 or 7 of the astronauts are the forefront of a huge project of people who work behind them to make it happen.
So understand that if you are not called into the limelight, it’s not your place, you will far succeed to do well probably in the background or other roles that will be your greatest contribution and success.
Developing a Good Habit
Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this blogger
Of late I have been developing a desire to read. I found that I couldn’t go a day without reading something, especially novels. I used to read books but not so frequently. Maybe about 10 books or so a year. Last week I borrowed one of my favorite novels from a friend entitled, “ Lord of the Rings”. To my amazement I finished it within a week. I asked my friend for the other two sequels namely “Two Towers and the “Return of the King”. But just waiting for it for a day for the books was a torture. I felt uncomfortable going a day without reading a novel, so I picked up another book to read.
Then it dawned upon me, whatever habits we develop becomes ingrained into our lives for habits are hard to break. That’s why we need to be careful not to develop bad habits. An ancient proverb says, “do not love sleep or you will grow poor, stay awake and you will have food to spare”. Its interesting to note that as we are sometimes free and idle, we might feel like taking that power nap. What happens is it eventually becomes a habit and when an opportunity presents itself to us, we will find it too hard to pursue it due to the bad habit of sleeping.

Do something useful, develop a good habit
I heard of an unemployed woman who couldn’t get a job for several months. She decided to wake up every morning like any one who would go to work , dress up and then she would go to her table and start typing on her typewriter. She did this everyday until one day there was a job opportunity that required someone who can speed type. She applied for the position and got the job.
Have you developed a bad habit? Watching excessive television, lazing around etc? Well, list down the things you would like to do and start doing them on a daily basis. You will develop a habit pattern that will be hard to break, and you will find success it what you do.
Higher Education
Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this blogger
During my days one had the only option of the government school and then a full four or six year study in a university of your choice, if you make it or can afford. Today, the options are many. One can do 3 years of Pre University in a local college here and finish the final year in their favorite university and obtain a degree from there.
Well even for schools, the options are in abundance. You have the private schools for the affordable, the international, which is really costly and if you can’t afford, the local school. Well either way you have the option of coming out of any one of these schools with the qualification to get you a seat to finish your higher education in a college or University.

What are you good at? That could be your recipe to success and independence.
Most parents are now more careful with the number of children they plan to have, considering the cost of educating a child, can go into more than a million sometimes for just educating one child. With this, can one make a quick calculation, how long will it take you to earn that money back? With the meagerly RM 2000+ a month for a fresh graduate is hardly anything. Of course you may say well you rise up the corporate ladder eventually.
Well gone are the days when you put in more than 8 hours a day to be recognized by your employer for a promotion. Today it’s the norm for anyone to work more than 8 hours a day.
If you are in employment, you will be an employee forever. Unless you are good in office politics and know how to curry favor with your bosses, try to find a way to be your own boss, learn the trade, of which you are skilled at, save your money and start your own business.
Comedy Court

I went for my first ever-full show by Alan Pereira and Indy Nadarajah. The last time I saw them was for a short stint they did during one of the events organized by Grace Assembly Community Centre.
This night was a charity show organized by Grace Assembly. It was the debut of a new show by them. I didn’t realize these two guys were amazingly humorous. They had various skeets representing aspects of the Malaysian society and of course politics. All said and laughed, they ended with a cheerful note of oneness among Malaysians and the song “ Try a little kindness” by Glen Campbell.

Alan and Indy at their best
One has to be in touch with the Malaysian happenings in order to appreciate the jokes. The theme was “ One kind” and the opening act was themed around the word “ one”.
Well one has to see it to have a hearty laugh. I was in stitches most of the way, and as Morgan Freeman listed down as one of his wishes in the movie “ Bucket List”,..” To laugh until I cry”. Well that happened to me more than once that night.
God bless these guys, they are simply incredible!
A Long Lost Friend found!
Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this blogger
I was very close to one of my friends whom I studied with in the university years ago. We had such great adventures together, traveling to the northern and southern part of the Australian states.
I lost touch with him after he got married. Coincidentally we both lost each other's contacts, that's why we could not locate each other. Thank God for Facebook, we found each other finally. He was in Australia but now over the last 19 months been working and residing in Singapore. He even has a 3-year-old son.

Where on earth is my friend?
We caught up over the phone reminiscing on our University day exploits. I plan to go down next month and catch up with him.
Only a few months ago I found a friend of mine through the Facebook who is now married with two daughters and residing in London. I will be going next year to visit her.
If you have lost an old friend's contact, try the Facebook, you may find that person somewhere. Share with us your experience
Service is all We Need
Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this blogger
Well I believe you maybe like me are one of the millions who experience shoddy service from service providers. Really, why do they call themselves service providers if they provide no service at all or bad ones for that matter?
The service industry is a business that took off in the early 1990’s as I remember in my University, the subject on Services Marketing was a relatively new one and even the text we used was filled with guesses, think so and wonder were its going kind of theories.

State of the art equipments, but still experiencing stone age services
Today service industry permeates one of the biggest business industries in the world and sadly Malaysia has not gotten a grasp of the value in return they may receive if they only brushed up on their skills. For e.g , how many times we have called a service provider only to be answered by a voice machine. I understand not many average job holding Malaysian speak proficient English to handle queries therefore a machine does the job.
I have been having problem with my Telco service provider for internet access. It was giving trouble for the last 3 months and was down for the last 5 days ( Thus I am posting this from Starbuck’s wi fi service). Mind you, I had to call them about 10 times and again daily over the last few days.
I just got a phone call that a technician from the Telco provider has showed up on my doorstep without making an appointment!
Share with us your service nightmares; let us have a good laugh over it
Better to Have loved and lost…
Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this blogger
I believe you have heard the saying that, it’s better to be loved and lost than to never have loved at all. Well really the feeling of being in love is amazing. It’s something that is indescribable. Being with that person whom you think the world of. But when that relationship is broken, the pain takes the other end of the spectrum. You suddenly loose the will to live. Everything that once was beautiful seem to look dull to you. You avoid the very places that bring memories that you once cherished most.
Why does relationship have feeling of extremes? You either feel like you are on top of the world or sick to the bones feeling like you have descended to the pits of hell.

Feel like being in a frying pan?
Well is there a way to fall in love with the right person and be happy ever after? Is that possible? Well couples who are married for years are devastated when their spouse dies even at old age. Someone they were dependent on doing everything with, is now suddenly gone.
I guess the pain is inevitable if you are to get into a relationship. Totally avoiding a relationship is not possible also as you can spend your days in loneliness although you may celebrate the single hood freedom for only a short period of time.
How Old is Old Enough?
Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this blogger
During my teen years, my parents exempt us from any relationship until we had graduated from the University. But today we have kids experiencing puppy love at 10 years and below and parents approve of it. Well puppy love isn’t so bad, but the age that requires a bit of caution is during their teen period. Kids between 14 and 18 having relationship can be risky as most of them are exploring their sexuality cause their hormones are at peak.
On the other hand as a parent, what would you think is the appropriate advice to give them on relationship? You can’t stop them from having a relationship, as you might breed rebellion and cause more problems than there is. They say there are two things in life you can’t avoid. One is tax and the other is teens.

old enough for a relationship?
Well most parents may find it difficult to relate with the age gap and put up restrictions knowing well that they once did the things that they are afraid their kids might do today. Someone once said teenagers are a punishment from God for what you did in your teen days.
I believe the most important thing is to trust your kids, guide them in the right way, giving them advice based on moral issues and safety from teen pregnancy. Then, you have to trust them to be wise enough to listen to your advice and the freedom within boundaries to let them prove their trust to you.
I believe a relationship should start only when they are adults, that is 18 and above as they will be able to take responsibilities for their action and plan for a family. Although they may have parental freedom, they are still governed by family guidance and protection until they hit 30.
Does God Exist?
Posted by: andrew william Post(s) by this blogger
The common statement among atheist is, “ I don’t believe there is a God or if God really exist’. That is actually an absolute statement, which means you have to possess absolute knowledge to claim you know that God does not exists. (Means you are absolutely sure).
So, in that case since you have absolute knowledge, then you must be God, in order to say God doesn’t exist.
Some even ask questions like, “ Who created God?” Thinking they have come up with the most smartest question. But in fact that is the silliest question. Because if someone created God, then that person who made God, has to be God and the God that was created ceases to be one.
Most Atheists go around saying God does not exist. If God does not exist, end of subject, you don’t have to go around claiming it. The fact that you go around claiming it, shows that there is an element of truth that God may really exist.
The move of Atheism actually came from the decedents of God fearing people and not from non believers. It was more during the last century more atheists sprung up. This was due to the knowledge explosion. Come to think of it, even the greatest invention in the world today, be it a computer, hand held touch phones etc, can never match the technology of a human being, a tree, or the clouds in the sky. Try making one of these and see if you succeed in your attempt.

Just because everything exists in perfect harmony, does not give us the right to assume thats how its supposed to be
How is it that the earth is positioned in such a place that a little closer to the sun and we would burn up and a little further and we would all freeze. How can we assume that the earth strategically positioned itself to prepare for the coming of mankind?
Einstein once said, just because we see nature in perfect harmony, does not mean we can assume that that’s how it’s supposed to be. It’s nothing more than sheer miracle!
