Best Dressed

Posted by: fashion fiend Post(s) by this blogger

At last a red-carpet event to drool over the dresses!

Thankfully, the SAG Awards 2008 lived up to its glitzy expectations. From over-the-top glamour and glitter to short and nifty black cocktail dresses, it was a sight for long-starved eyes.

Naturally, the first question to ask - your favourite outfit? – even before finding out who won the awards.

My absolutely favourite was Marion Cotillard in her stunning Nina Ricci strapless long dress. Simply magnifique!

Simply stunning.

Naturally, after a keen look at the red-carpet parade, you’ll know what to expect in the coming months. Pretty prints as in Cate Blanchett’s Balenciaga dress. The canary yellow of Vanessa William’s Escada and Kate Beckinsale’s Luisa Beccaria long dresses. The shades of white such as Eva Longoria’s Naem Khan long white dress with train, plus lots of metal and glitter too. Michelle Pfeiffer’s gorgeous gold sheath is from Versace’s pre-fall 2008 collection, so that’s what will be out at the end of this year.

Sleek chic.

Bold Lips in Pale

Posted by: fashion fiend Post(s) by this blogger

The look for the spring summer season has always focused on dewy and fresh, alternating between the sheerest hint of colour and bright splashes of bold shades – either on eyes or lips.

Being a believer of nude and shiny lips, I know that a pale colour makes a much, much stronger statement than even that of a bright slash of red lipstick. I find that instead of hiding behind a pleasing colour, a woman’s true strength appears when she accentuates her best asset only in the sheerest of shades. Allowing her true self to appear!

Adopt the look of Laneige.

This season lips must seem nude but not naked. Keep them well moisturised before applying a translucent shade of nude. Add a little shine if you prefer, and clear gloss to top the look.

The new bold is pale.
